Since the Brawler Blast update, Cosmo has been first on the BrawlUp tier list every single day. Over October 10 to 19 his Meta Index never dropped below 95, and it reached the maximum of 100 for most of the window. This article looks at why, using 5,557 of his ranked and high-trophy games from BrawlUp's sample.
The kit in one paragraph
Cosmo is a Mythic controller with long range and a slow reload. He throws three planets that orbit in a circle and grow in size and damage the farther they travel, so he hits hardest at the edge of his range. His Super attaches a magnet to an enemy for six seconds, and shots from Cosmo and his teammates home in on that target. The full build, his gadgets and star powers are on his brawler page.
Where he wins: two modes, not six
Cosmo's adjusted win rate is 69.8% overall, but the number hides how concentrated his strength is:
| Mode | Games | Adjusted win rate |
|---|---|---|
| Brawl Ball | 1,671 | 67.0% |
| Knockout | 1,048 | 62.0% |
| Bounty | 92 | 51.3% |
| Hot Zone | 86 | 51.2% |
| Gem Grab | 68 | 51.0% |
Players have figured out where he belongs. In Brawl Ball the magnet turns a single hit into a goal: once the ball carrier is tagged, every teammate's shot finds them. In Knockout, where there are no respawns, a six-second window in which three players' shots all home in on one target usually decides the round. In the other modes he is rarely picked, and the small samples there sit close to 50%, so treat him as a Brawl Ball and Knockout specialist.
His best teammates
Because the magnet makes other brawlers' shots land, Cosmo is only as strong as the damage around him. His best duos in our data:
- Wendy: 78.6% together over 594 games.
- Shade: 75.6% over 485 games.
- Starr Nova: 74.1% over 279 games.
- Nori: 72.3% over 352 games.
- Damian: 71.6% over 184 games.
Who he beats
On paper his planets are weak up close, so assassins should punish him. In practice they rarely get there: Cosmo wins 78.2% of his games against Edgar (635 games) and 73.6% against Mortis (682). His most lopsided matchups are Tick (78.9%, 423 games), Edgar, Colt (77.6%, 533 games), Mortis and Shelly (72.1%, 234 games). The long range plus team-wide homing means the enemy usually loses a player before an assassin can close the gap.
How to beat Cosmo
Only one brawler has a winning record against him in our data: Amber, against whom Cosmo wins just 48.3% of 272 games. His next toughest matchups are Wendy (53.3%), Max (54.4%), Shade (57.9%) and Gus (58.9%), all of which he still wins more often than he loses. That leaves four practical answers:
- Ban him in Brawl Ball and Knockout. In those two modes he is the highest-impact ban in the game right now. The ranked guide covers ban priority.
- Draft Amber, or one of his closest matchups, if he gets through.
- Dodge the Super, not the planets. The magnet is what wins fights; once you are tagged, the whole enemy team's shots follow you for six seconds. Play behind a wall until it expires.
- Punish the reload. His slow reload leaves a window after he empties his ammo. That is when to push, not while his planets are flying at full range.
His score has started to slip, from 100 to 95 over the last three days, as players learn these answers. For where he and every other brawler stand today, see the live tier list and our October meta report.
