Mortis vs popular picks

How to beat Mortis

  • Use point-blank bursters like Shelly, Bull or Buzz. They delete Mortis right after he dashes in.
  • Play near walls and area denial. He hates corners and anywhere he cannot dash freely.
  • Do not chase him when he is low. Creepy Harvest heals him off takedowns, so let him leave instead of feeding him a kill.

Common mistake: Fighting Mortis in open space with a low-burst brawler lets him dash, poke and reset forever.

Game plan

Mortis is an assassin whose attack is a dash. Every hit moves him forward, so he has no ranged damage and every mistake leaves him out of position. He wins by picking off low-health and slow brawlers, especially throwers who cannot stop him up close.

  1. Never dash into a full-health enemy. Wait until a target drops below half or gets separated from their team, then commit.
  2. Keep one dash in reserve. Dashes are your escape as much as your attack, and leaving a lost fight is how Mortis stays alive.
  3. Use your Super to heal mid-fight. The bats damage and heal at the same time, so a well-aimed Super can turn a 1v2.

Drafting Mortis

When to pick
Pick Mortis last, into throwers, snipers and supports with no close-range answer. Skip him if the enemy already has Shelly, Bull or another point-blank burster.
Who to pair with
Pair him with brawlers that soften targets from range, so he only has to finish them.
Ban or not
Ban him when your team plans to run throwers on a closed map.

Win rate by mode

Adjusted win rate: results are pulled toward 50% when a mode has few games, so the overall figure can sit above every single mode.
