BRAWL STARS GLOSSARY

Every Brawl Stars term explained simply: core mechanics, brawler classes, game modes and progression.

CORE MECHANICS

Hypercharge

A limited-time super-charged state a brawler enters by filling a Hypercharge meter. It boosts damage, speed and shield, and adds a unique effect to the brawler's Super.

Super

A powerful signature ability charged by dealing damage. Every brawler has a unique Super that defines how they play.

Gadget

An on-demand ability with a limited number of uses per match. Gadgets give a quick tactical edge such as a dash, reload or burst.

Star Power

A passive or conditional upgrade unlocked at Power 9 that meaningfully changes how a brawler plays. Each brawler has two to choose from.

Gear

A crafted equipment slot adding a small situational boost such as Speed, Shield, Damage or Vision. Brawlers can equip two gears.

Power Level

A brawler's upgrade level from 1 to 11. Higher Power Levels increase health and damage; Power 11 is fully maxed.

BRAWLER CLASSES

Damage Dealer

A versatile class built around dealing consistent damage at medium range. Flexible picks for most modes.

Tank

A high-health class that absorbs damage and pressures enemies up close. Strong on small maps and Brawl Ball.

Marksman

A long-range class that deals heavy damage from a distance but is fragile if enemies close the gap.

Artillery

A class that attacks over walls and controls space with area damage. Excellent at zoning and Heist.

Controller

A class that slows, traps or disrupts enemies and locks down zones for the team.

Assassin

A mobile, high-burst class that dives fragile targets and escapes. Rewards good timing and positioning.

Support

A class that heals, shields or empowers teammates, amplifying the rest of the team.

GAME MODES

Gem Grab

A 3v3 mode where teams collect gems from the center and hold 10 through a countdown to win.

Brawl Ball

A 3v3 soccer mode. Score two goals by carrying or shooting the ball into the enemy net.

Knockout

A best-of-three 3v3 mode with no respawns. Eliminate the entire enemy team to take the round.

Bounty

A 3v3 mode where each kill earns stars. The team with the most stars when time runs out wins.

Heist

A 3v3 mode where teams attack the enemy safe while defending their own. First safe destroyed loses.

Hot Zone

A 3v3 mode where teams hold one or more capture zones to fill a percentage meter to 100%.

Showdown

A battle-royale mode, solo or duo, where players fight on a shrinking map to be the last standing.

PROGRESSION & CURRENCY

Trophies

The main ranking currency earned by winning matches. Total Trophies measure overall account progress.

Ranked

The competitive mode where players climb tiers from Bronze to Pro using a separate skill rating.

Records

An achievement-like progression feature replacing masteries, where players earn cosmetics and titles by completing specific in-game challenges.

Star Points

A currency earned from season rank resets and trophy milestones, spent on skins and items in the Star Shop.
