FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Bolt is currently A-tier in Brawl Ball with a score of 75/100. As a Tank, Bolt absorbs frontline damage and creates space for teammates to push, making it a reliable pick when the meta favors Brawl Ball.
Run Toss Up as the default Star Power for Bolt — it works in most situations. Switch to Unstoppaball on maps that punish your main weakness. For Gadgets, Oil Change is the standard active pick; Bouncy Ball is situationally better on specific map types. Speed and Shield Gears are the standard choice.
Bolt struggles against Emz and Gale, who can out-trade Bolt at the ranges or map types where Bolt is most exposed. On the flip side, Bolt consistently beats Piper and Brock.
Bolt performs best in Brawl Ball (A-tier, 75/100). The Tank kit — absorbs frontline damage and creates space for teammates to push — is directly rewarded in Brawl Ball, which is why Bolt climbs higher here than in other modes. See the mode ratings section for a full breakdown.
Bolt pairs best with Poco and Byron. Since Bolt absorbs frontline damage and creates space for teammates to push, teammates that cover the opposite role — whether that is frontline presence, healing, or ranged poke — create the most complete comp.
To play Bolt well, focus on Brawl Ball where the mode rating is highest, and lean into being a Tank that absorbs frontline damage and creates space for teammates to push. Run Toss Up as the core build, track Emz and Gale on the enemy team, and pair with Poco and Byron when possible.

HOW TO PLAY BOLT

Bolt is a lightning-element brawler who fires rapid electrical shots and his Super transforms him into a ball of lightning that bounces between enemies, dealing chain damage and moving at extreme speed. His Super bounce mechanic hits all nearby enemies in rapid succession and charges more from clustered groups. He is highly effective in dense-enemy modes like Hot Zone where his Super bounce deals maximum chain damage.

Save Bolt's lightning bounce Super for team fights rather than 1v1 engagements, as each additional enemy within range adds another bounce target and multiplies the total damage and speed bonus. His base attack deals reliable poke damage at medium range.

PRO TIPS

Tank Game Plan
Position between enemies and your team. Your value comes from soaking damage, not dealing it. Choose Toss Up in most situations, switching to Unstoppaball on maps where enemies can close distance. Charge your Super passively by staying in fights and engage with it to set up teammates, not to escape.
PRIORITY
Draft Around Counters
Watch for Emz or Gale. Both Oil Change and Bouncy Ball are in your kit — learn which one punishes your counters versus which gives you an escape window. Use your Gadget early rather than saving it for a desperate moment.
MATCHUP
Best Team Shape
Pair Bolt with Poco or Byron when possible. The best comps cover Bolt's weak moments while letting the brawler lean into Brawl Ball pressure.
