FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Hank is currently A-tier in Brawl Ball with a score of 82/100. As a Tank, Hank absorbs frontline damage and creates space for teammates to push, making it a reliable pick when the meta favors Brawl Ball.
Run It's Gonna Blow as the default Star Power for Hank — it works in most situations. Switch to Take Cover! on maps that punish your main weakness. For Gadgets, Water Balloons is the standard active pick; Barricade is situationally better on specific map types. Speed and Shield Gears are the standard choice.
Hank struggles against Brock and Piper, who can out-trade Hank at the ranges or map types where Hank is most exposed. On the flip side, Hank consistently beats Darryl and Bull.
Hank performs best in Brawl Ball (A-tier, 82/100). The Tank kit — absorbs frontline damage and creates space for teammates to push — is directly rewarded in Brawl Ball, which is why Hank climbs higher here than in other modes. See the mode ratings section for a full breakdown.
Hank pairs best with Poco and Gene. Since Hank absorbs frontline damage and creates space for teammates to push, teammates that cover the opposite role — whether that is frontline presence, healing, or ranged poke — create the most complete comp.
To play Hank well, focus on Brawl Ball where the mode rating is highest, and lean into being a Tank that absorbs frontline damage and creates space for teammates to push. Run It's Gonna Blow as the core build, track Brock and Piper on the enemy team, and pair with Poco and Gene when possible.

HOW TO PLAY HANK

Hank is a tank who builds up a powerful charge shot over a few seconds, dealing massive single-hit damage when it releases on a target. His bubble shield Super absorbs incoming hits for a short window, making him nearly unkillable when combined with his high base health. He excels in modes that reward sustained presence on an objective, though he needs to be positioned carefully to safely charge his main attack without being rushed before it fires.

Hank's charge attack is most effective when he walks toward an enemy during the charge to close range, since the damage falls off with distance. Use his Super proactively when you see incoming high-damage abilities rather than waiting until you are already low HP.

PRO TIPS

Tank Game Plan
Position between enemies and your team. Your value comes from soaking damage, not dealing it. Choose It's Gonna Blow in most situations, switching to Take Cover! on maps where enemies can close distance. Charge your Super passively by staying in fights and engage with it to set up teammates, not to escape.
PRIORITY
Draft Around Counters
Watch for Brock or Piper. Both Water Balloons and Barricade are in your kit — learn which one punishes your counters versus which gives you an escape window. Use your Gadget early rather than saving it for a desperate moment.
MATCHUP
Best Team Shape
Pair Hank with Poco or Gene when possible. Build toward Homing Fish-Iles in safe positions — it swings fights instantly, so activate it when your team has the edge, not when you are already behind.
