FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Janet is currently A-tier in Knockout with a score of 74/100. As a Damage Dealer, Janet sustains high damage at mid range and wins straight-up duels, making it a reliable pick when the meta favors Knockout.
Run Stage View as the default Star Power for Janet — it works in most situations. Switch to Vocal Warm Up on maps that punish your main weakness. For Gadgets, Drop the Bass is the standard active pick; Backstage Pass is situationally better on specific map types. Speed and Shield Gears are the standard choice.
Janet struggles against Nani and Brock, who can out-trade Janet at the ranges or map types where Janet is most exposed. On the flip side, Janet consistently beats Gale and Emz.
Janet performs best in Knockout (A-tier, 74/100). The Damage Dealer kit — sustains high damage at mid range and wins straight-up duels — is directly rewarded in Knockout, which is why Janet climbs higher here than in other modes. See the mode ratings section for a full breakdown.
Janet pairs best with Poco and Gene. Since Janet sustains high damage at mid range and wins straight-up duels, teammates that cover the opposite role — whether that is frontline presence, healing, or ranged poke — create the most complete comp.
To play Janet well, focus on Knockout where the mode rating is highest, and lean into being a Damage Dealer that sustains high damage at mid range and wins straight-up duels. Run Stage View as the core build, track Nani and Brock on the enemy team, and pair with Poco and Gene when possible.

HOW TO PLAY JANET

Janet fires a microphone that deals high damage in a straight line, and her Super launches her into the air where she fires rapidly downward while moving, dealing rapid damage to anything beneath her flight path. Her airborne state makes her incredibly mobile and difficult to target while she moves across the map, enabling repositioning that ground-based brawlers cannot match. She is particularly effective in Knockout and Hot Zone where her flight provides map-wide presence.

Aim Janet's aerial Super firing downward at clustered enemies rather than chasing single targets, as covering a wide area below is where the flight form generates the most total damage. Time the Super so you land in a safe position behind cover rather than in the middle of enemy territory.

PRO TIPS

Damage Dealer Game Plan
Hold mid range and maintain spacing. Advance during the enemy's reload, retreat during your own. Take Stage View in most situations, switching to Vocal Warm Up on maps where enemies can close distance. Force trades only when you are at full health.
PRIORITY
Draft Around Counters
Watch for Nani or Brock. Both Drop the Bass and Backstage Pass are in your kit — learn which one punishes your counters versus which gives you an escape window. Use your Gadget early rather than saving it for a desperate moment.
MATCHUP
Best Team Shape
Pair Janet with Poco or Gene when possible. Build toward Magnum Opus in safe positions — it swings fights instantly, so activate it when your team has the edge, not when you are already behind.
