FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

8-Bit is currently S-tier in Heist with a score of 86/100. As a Damage Dealer, 8-Bit sustains high damage at mid range and wins straight-up duels, making it a reliable pick when the meta favors Heist.
Run Boosted Booster as the default Star Power for 8-Bit — it works in most situations. Switch to Plugged in on maps that punish your main weakness. For Gadgets, Cheat Cartridge is the standard active pick; Extra Credits is situationally better on specific map types. Speed and Shield Gears are the standard choice.
8-Bit struggles against Leon and Mortis, who can out-trade 8-Bit at the ranges or map types where 8-Bit is most exposed. On the flip side, 8-Bit consistently beats Bull and Rosa.
8-Bit performs best in Heist (S-tier, 86/100). The Damage Dealer kit — sustains high damage at mid range and wins straight-up duels — is directly rewarded in Heist, which is why 8-Bit climbs higher here than in other modes. See the mode ratings section for a full breakdown.
8-Bit pairs best with Poco and Byron. Since 8-Bit sustains high damage at mid range and wins straight-up duels, teammates that cover the opposite role — whether that is frontline presence, healing, or ranged poke — create the most complete comp.
To play 8-Bit well, focus on Heist where the mode rating is highest, and lean into being a Damage Dealer that sustains high damage at mid range and wins straight-up duels. Run Boosted Booster as the core build, track Leon and Mortis on the enemy team, and pair with Poco and Byron when possible.

HOW TO PLAY 8-BIT

Eight-Bit fires long-range laser beams at a slow movement speed, making him one of the most powerful stationary damage dealers when positioned safely behind teammates. His Super drops a turret that boosts the damage of all allies standing in its radius, turning an already-pushing team into an overwhelming force. His low mobility means careful positioning matters enormously as he cannot recover from bad placement.

Eight-Bit's damage booster turret benefits his entire team, so coordinate with teammates to initiate an attack the moment the Super lands. Place him behind your two frontline brawlers so enemies must go through them to reach Eight-Bit's slow retreat speed.

PRO TIPS

Damage Dealer Game Plan
Hold mid range and maintain spacing. Advance during the enemy's reload, retreat during your own. Take Boosted Booster in most situations, switching to Plugged in on maps where enemies can close distance. Force trades only when you are at full health.
PRIORITY
Draft Around Counters
Watch for Leon or Mortis. Both Cheat Cartridge and Extra Credits are in your kit — learn which one punishes your counters versus which gives you an escape window. Use your Gadget early rather than saving it for a desperate moment.
MATCHUP
Best Team Shape
Pair 8-Bit with Poco or Byron when possible. Build toward Aimbot in safe positions — it swings fights instantly, so activate it when your team has the edge, not when you are already behind.
