FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Finx is currently A-tier in Gem Grab with a score of 82/100. As a Controller, Finx denies zones and controls objective access with area abilities, making it a reliable pick when the meta favors Gem Grab.
Run Hieroglyph Halt as the default Star Power for Finx — it works in most situations. Switch to Primer on maps that punish your main weakness. For Gadgets, Back to the Finxture is the standard active pick; No Escape is situationally better on specific map types. Speed and Shield Gears are the standard choice.
Finx struggles against Edgar and Mortis, who can out-trade Finx at the ranges or map types where Finx is most exposed. On the flip side, Finx consistently beats Bull and Frank.
Finx performs best in Gem Grab (A-tier, 82/100). The Controller kit — denies zones and controls objective access with area abilities — is directly rewarded in Gem Grab, which is why Finx climbs higher here than in other modes. See the mode ratings section for a full breakdown.
Finx pairs best with Charlie and Emz. Since Finx denies zones and controls objective access with area abilities, teammates that cover the opposite role — whether that is frontline presence, healing, or ranged poke — create the most complete comp.
To play Finx well, focus on Gem Grab where the mode rating is highest, and lean into being a Controller that denies zones and controls objective access with area abilities. Run Hieroglyph Halt as the core build, track Edgar and Mortis on the enemy team, and pair with Charlie and Emz when possible.

HOW TO PLAY FINX

Finx fires a trio of ink projectiles that deal splash damage on hit and his Super launches a bouncing ink bomb that ricochets between walls and detonates with a large explosion. His ink mechanics penalize enemies who try to reposition through the splash zones. He is effective in maps with many walls where his bouncing Super can chain through multiple surfaces before detonating in an unavoidable position.

Finx's bouncing Super can be aimed to ricochet off specific walls and detonate behind enemy cover, so practice the bounce angles on common maps rather than firing it directly at exposed brawlers. His ink splash on basic attacks also punishes enemies who try to bunch together.

PRO TIPS

Controller Game Plan
Build your Super from safe positions and deploy it on the objective approach route, not reactively. Take Hieroglyph Halt in most situations, switching to Primer on maps where enemies can close distance. A Super that wins map control is worth more than one used defensively.
PRIORITY
Draft Around Counters
Watch for Edgar or Mortis. Both Back to the Finxture and No Escape are in your kit — learn which one punishes your counters versus which gives you an escape window. Use your Gadget early rather than saving it for a desperate moment.
MATCHUP
Best Team Shape
Pair Finx with Charlie or Emz when possible. Build toward Temporal Traveling in safe positions — it swings fights instantly, so activate it when your team has the edge, not when you are already behind.
